The 2024 class of the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame has been announced, with seven Husker football standouts and a state college All-American being recognized. The inductees include Keven Lightner, Tyrone Byrd, Terrell Farley, Chris Kelsay, Jared Crick, Rex Burkhead, and Monte Johnson from the Legends category, as well as Mike Miller from Nebraska-Kearney. The Hall of Fame class will be formally inducted in September at a banquet in Lincoln and will be recognized during the Huskers’ home game against Northern Iowa.
In order to be eligible for the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame, players must have been an All-American or first-team all-conference selection, with second-team all-conference honorees eligible starting in 2015. Players must also wait 10 years after the end of their collegiate career to be considered for induction, and major national award winners are automatically inducted.
The inductees represent a wide range of eras, with players from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s being honored for their contributions to Husker football. The Hall of Fame also recognizes the contributions of Angie and Dan Muhleisen with the Clarence E. Swanson Meritorious Service Award and Joe Selig with the Lyell Bremser Special Merit Award.
Overall, the 2024 class of the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame reflects the rich history and tradition of Husker football and celebrates the accomplishments of players and contributors who have left a lasting impact on the program.
